Film Review > I Am Legend
Years after a plague kills most of humanity and transforms the rest into monsters, the sole survivor in New York City struggles valiantly to find a cure. I still don’t understand how that movie get 7.2 on 10 at IMDB. This is just another bad zombie movie. If you want to see a good one, just go for 28 Days Later. My Rating: 2.5/5  I Am Legend Official Site I Am Legend Trailer on...

Elephant Paints Self Portrait →
I will say like my friend Frank, I don’t know if this elephant painting is for real, Thailaid being the land of fake and corruption, but if it is, it’s really impressive. According to their site, the Maesa Elephant Camp has already won the Guiness Worl Record for its 2.40 metres wide and12 metres long painting entitled “Cold ...

reCAPTCHA - Digitizing Books One Capcha At A Time →
You alrady know that CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from “bots,” or automated programs usually written to generate spam. About 60 million CAPTCHAs are solved by humans around the world every day. In each case, roughly ten seconds of human time are being spent. Individually, that’s not a lot of time, but in aggregate these little puzzles consume more than...

Tron Light Cycle Scene made out of papers! This is geeky to the extreme. Amazing! The art of recycling something you like with mostly nothing other than your imagination and some recycled items is called Sweding. It is been made popular in Michel Gondry’s film Be Kind Rewind. (via Wired)

Film Review > Juno
Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, an offbeat young woman makes an unusual decision regarding her unborn child. This is certainly one of the best original screenplay, art direction and musical score for a movie in 2007. Ellen Page is the next Nicole Kidman. Interesting fact from Wikipedia: A financial success, Juno made back its budget of $6.5 million in only 20 days, 19 of which the film...

How to get some respect from your users
Simple: Take the time to respond individually to each of your user. I asked to the team of the - cannot live without - Firefox Add-ons Piclens that enables you to preview pictures on variety of sites (Flickr, Facebook, Picasa and others) as immersive slideshows, to be able to press back on the keyboard spacebar to return to the search function from the picture large-size view. Film Review > El Pasado (The Past)
I went to see El Pasado tonight at the Montreal Latin Filmfest Festivalissimo. It’s a good movie with a horrible story. Not in the sense that the scenario was bad, to the contrary. But you leave the theater with a bad taste in your mouth. It is the story of young couple who after 12 years of relationship, split-up and are haunted by their past until the end. My rating: 3.5/5 El Pasado...

Face Recognition - No Where to Hide Anymore →
The new algorithm is 90-95 percent accuracy, even if the eyes, nose and mouth are obscured. Current feature-based systems have accuracy that tops out at 65 percent when some form of occlusion is introduced. They also require relatively high-resolution images, and can easily be fooled by changing small details such as adding a mustache, donning a hood or changing one’s expression....

Very interesent round up of the different user interface technologies to compensate for the next (or already existing) information overload. It goes from the multitouch Minority Report wall to new ways of interacting with our desktop. I had the chance to view BumpTop in action at BarCamp Montreal. It’s very promising.

Video Coming To Flickr Soon. Really! →
Vimeo, a video sharing site by people for people, may soon have a competitor if Yahoo find a way to pull this off without simply copying the big guys (YouTube and the crumbs who own the other 30% market share). If iFilm was still alive and kicking it will be another contestant, but since their acquisition by MTV in 2005 (and rename Spike) it’s mostly dead.

Footer Sitemap as Interaction Design Pattern →
Footer sitemap are very popular these days. You just have to look at most 2.0 web sites or even the new Apple web site. I find the one on Second-Life home page to be well done. Grey-out, it’s very suttle to make sure you focus your attention on the top main area. But soon as you move your mouse in one of the three sections, it’s highlight itself.
