What is a Leap Year?
Why tomorrow we are the 29th of February and why we skip it every new century except if the century is divisible by 400. What? Watch the video.

A very interesting post from Aarra Interactive.
Flash gave us the luxury of predicability. We could predictably estimate the time a project would take and the development techniques used to achieve the end result were generally clear. Rather than targeting and customizing a launch for a slew of unpredictable browsers, we are only targeting one platform: the Flash runtime, which will run with 99% consistency across all browsers.
…
Web designers and developers sometimes lose sight of what works and is demanded by a larger audience, due to preferring what’s considered ‘cool’ in their bubble”, and that “More big brands will shift from Flash, testing the water with HTML5 and CSS3 for focussed campaigns. But for entertainment sites, Flash is – and will remain – the predominant tool of choice to create engaging experiences.
For the record, I’m more into using HTML5 (mostly with the features that work properly without too many hacks) than Flash to implement a site. But currently working an gamedoc (webdocumentary as a game), I should admit that HTML5 is unpredictable and would probably jeopardize the project in term of budget and timeline if we try to implement it this way.
What’s the waiter doing with the computer screen?
Well, you can’t do things the way you wanna do them. You can check off a reservation in the system, with the mouse, but hey, it’s at least four clicks away from this screen. And you can’t tell if the guests have been showed to their table or are waiting in the bar. So it’s much easier just to draw on the screen. (And when the evening is over you just wipe the screen with a cloth.) We’re very busy here, and this works just fine.”
This is what happen when, as a software developer, you focus on the features set instead of the user.

Snow Circles
Young, I told my girlfriend that I was going down to get some croissants and coffee. In reality I went in the parking lot across the street, just under the bedroom window . It was empty and covered of snow. Then I drew a big heart in the snow with a lovely message using my boots as a pen.
Back empty-handed, she said, “But where are the croissants?” Outside I think ;) She looked. We didn’t get up before 2 p.m.
Thank you for having remember me this little joy.
