2009 Apple WWDC In A Nutshell

  • Snow Leopard features presentation (more on Gizmodo).
  • All uni-body aluminium MacBook are now MacBook Pro including the 13 inches, The MacBook White is now called MacBook.
  • Upgrade to the MacBook Pro line with better CPU, memory, integrated-non-removable longer life battery and integrated SD reader.
  • New iPhone 3.0 OS features (available worldwide June 17th)
    1. Landscape mode for the majority of the apps where you need a keyboard (Notes, Mail, SMS, etc.)
    2. Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo (on shake), across apps
    3. Search on all app (including Notes, iTunes, Contacts, Mail)
    4. Spotlight global search (including apps)
    5. Tethering your Internet connection with your PC or MAC through USB or Bluetooth
    6. Find my phone feature where you can localize your phone on MobileMe if lost, notify your phone with a message and a phone number to call back and erase all you data remotely if desired.
    7. iPhone will support external Accessories through the Doc connector and Bluetooth.
    8. Push notification for all apps
    9. Real time GPS through other suppliers like Tomtom
  • Textbooks will be available in the App Store (Music, Movies, TV Series, Apps and now Textbooks (including magazines)).
  • New iPhone 3G (named iPhone 3GS - “S” for Speed - $199/16 Gigs, $299/32 Gigs available June 19th in Canada and US, old iPhone 3G stay available on the market for $99/8 Gigs)
    • Same look and feel (SAME)
    • New faster CPU
    • Faster 3G Speed (7.2 Mbps)
    • New Camera (3 mpx, autofocus including macro mode (10 cm), auto white  balance, auto exposure, video capability 30 fps VGA)
    • Voice Control (call someone by voice and control your iPod with voice commands, like the iPod Shuffle)
    • Build-in digital compass (stand alone app with orientation, longitude and latitude and also integrated to Maps)
    • Better battery life (30 hrs of Audio compare to 24 hrs before)
    • Built-in support for Nike+

Do I intend to change my iPhone for the new one? No, but I must admit the new autofocus camera looks pretty cool.
