The Job Has Barely Just Begun

Thane:

I just wanted to share this PDF from 37Signals: Getting Real. It’s “old” but a classic. It’s their collection of thinking over past few years.  I don’t agree with all of it (namely, “screw wireframes”…JiPé!) but the overall spirit applies to us not just for software but overall as digital brand agents!

JiPé:

Do yourself a favor, READ THIS PDF BOOK. I read it three times!

I agree with mostly everything they say, even for the wireframes part (but not doing any is mainly more adequate for their type of business: web applications, then for ours).

The clients of our industry are not well educated enough about what is a web site to understand they don’t need wireframes. A website should never be launch as we generally do. Success comes with small steps forward, not big leap.

The success of Marie-Eve’s blog is what I would like our clients to understand, continuous efforts, on step at a time… Yes this is only a blog, but I saw it grow from a singular journal to a little business. She’s the perfect business case.

Even 15 years later, a website is still considered like a big issue of a magazine. When launch, the job has been done, while it is all the contrary, the job has barely just begun.
