I invite you to read this post by Jason of 37Signals about why they decide to skip the Photoshop mock-ups in their production process. There are over 100 150 comments of readers about the pros and cons. Very interesting.
For our part we try most as possible to skip the clean wire-frame process to go from the blackboard sketches to the mock-ups. Leaving out the Photoshop mock-ups for most of our project will be something near impossible as we are not essentially creating online applications. Otherwise I will consider passing from the blackboard to CSS/HTML and adjusting the interface on the fly with the front-end developer, but I’m still not sure of the final result.
If you read their post title carefully, it’s written: “Why WE skip Photoshop”. Doesn’t mean it’s good for everyone, every project, every business…
